Privacy Policy
What we collect, what we never do, and how to ask us to delete your data.
Privacy Policy
Effective November 1, 2026.
Who we are
Cover My Share is operated by inWorks LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company, 143 Cedar Lane, Chester Springs, PA 19425-3514, phone 215-995-5562. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean inWorks LLC. You can reach us on our contact page or at notices@covermyshare.app.
What we collect
To run a household, we store names, email addresses and phone numbers for the people on it; the bills, amounts and due dates involved; and, where someone has shared it, a way to pay them (a Zelle or Venmo handle, or a bank nickname and the last four digits only of an account number - we never ask for or store a full account or routing number). We also keep a record of reminders sent and responses given, so the household has an honest history of who was asked for what and when.
If you choose to get reminders by text, we keep a record of your agreement: when you agreed, the mobile number you agreed for, and the wording you agreed to. We keep a log of each agreement and each opt-out for at least four years, as carriers require, even after you turn texts off.
We do not store passwords. Signing in happens through Google or Microsoft, so Cover My Share never sees or keeps your credentials for those accounts.
What we never do
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers. Mobile numbers and text message consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Cover My Share never moves money and never has access to anyone’s bank account, card, or full account number - every payment happens directly between the people in a household, by whatever method they already use. The only outside parties who see any of this data are the infrastructure we run on (our cloud hosting and database provider, our sign-in provider, the service that delivers our emails, ClickSend, which delivers our text messages, Microsoft Clarity for usage analytics, described below, and Google Fonts, which our website and the app load for their typeface, so Google receives visitors’ IP address and browser details) - each only to the extent needed to operate the app.
Text messages
Bill reminder texts are optional and only for people who sign themselves up. See our text message terms and exactly how someone opts in. Reply STOP to any text to opt out, or HELP for help. Message frequency varies. Msg and data rates may apply.
How we measure usage
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how the app is used: where people tap and scroll, and where they get stuck. Everything the app shows is masked in those recordings, so names, email addresses and amounts are not captured, and it is switched off on the personal-link and sign-in pages. It sets cookies to tell one visit from another, and is not loaded at all if your browser sends a Do Not Track signal. Our public home page also uses Clarity, for clicks and scrolling only; it has no forms, so nothing you type is collected.
Who can see what inside a household
The Organizer (whoever sets up the household) can see everyone and everything in it. Everyone else sees only what is relevant to them: their own bills, their own balance, and - if they are covering a bill for someone else - that bill too. Being added to a household does not require the person being added to have set anything up themselves; the Organizer is responsible for having a real household relationship with everyone they add.
How long we keep it, and deleting your data
Data stays on a household’s record as long as the household is active, so the running history of who owes what stays accurate. If you want your personal information removed - whether you are an Organizer or someone added to a household - email us at notices@covermyshare.app. We handle these requests by hand today and will confirm with you once it is done, normally within 30 days.
Children
Cover My Share is meant for adults managing shared household bills - college students, parents, co-parents, and roommates. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Security
Data is encrypted both in transit and at rest. Full bank account and routing numbers are never collected in the first place, so there is nothing of that kind to protect in a breach.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be mentioned on the Notices screen for Organizers.
